STARDUST Discussion Week One

First off I apologize for the late posting of this...I was out last night and yeah...day got away from me. So here we go, keeping it simple:

1) The strange man offers Dunstan his "heart's desire", what exactly do you think that is?

Book One: Stardust - Neil Gainman October 2012

Hello Ladies,

Here we are book Number One of the Geek Girls Literary Society, Drum roll please...

Title: Stardust

Author: Neil Gainman

Summery: Young Tristran Thorn will do anything to win the cold heart of beautiful Victoria—even fetch her the star they watch fall from the night sky. But to do so, he must enter the unexplored lands on the other side of the ancient wall that gives their tiny village its name. Beyond that old stone wall, Tristran learns, lies Faerie—where nothing, not even a fallen star, is what he imagined.

Breakdown: The book is 368 pages, and 10 chapters with an Epigraph and an Epilouge.

So here's the skinny:

October 1st - Start date

October 7th - Finish Epigraph through end of Chapter 2

October 14th - Finish Chapters 3 through end of Chapter 5

October 21st - Finish Chapter 6 through end of Chapter 8

October 28th - Finish Chapter 9 through end of Epilogue

Meetings - I'm hoping to either use Saturday or Sunday nights to get up a post on the blog for discussion. You all can then post comments at your own convenience. Still working out what dates for any live discussions. We can work out dates/times later to do a Google + hang out, or just a group chat where we are all together.

Hi Ladies!

Welcome to the first communication for the Geek Girls Literary Club, that's right, I've given it a fancy title. I eventually want to get a message board up and running, but until then I've gotten this blog up and running as a centralize place to post thoughts, plans, "schedule meetings" ect.

I've started to post a list of possible reading materials, but suggestions are always welcome. These are just my first spit balling of ideas, and clearly some of them we've read before, but think of how much fun it will be to REREAD them and be able to talk about them. Plus that should make busy months a bit easier. Let's face it we are all busy, and I'm sure things will slow a little when the holidays roll around, and such, but I figure we aim for a book a month, unless it's a longer book of course, I figure we can always decide on a book to book biases on how things will be broken up.

I'm working on figuring out which book we're going to start off with. I'll make sure it's posted by the end of this week which will give you all time to get a copy before Oct. 1st, which is when I propose as a start date. When i post the book I'll also post a break down of what to read by when. Sound good?

Also, I'm at an advantage because I know all you wonderful people, but I'm pretty sure you may not all know each other, so feel free to introduce your adorable selves.

I'm really excited to start this with you lovely ladies and can not wait to get started.
